After succeeding on PC, NeocoreGames brings their tactical RPG with Roman undead to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S next month. The May 6, 2025 console release gives players a chance to lead the infamous Ninth Legion in their conquest of Avalon.

Dark Fantasy Twist on Classic Myths

King Arthur: Legion IX puts players in control of Gaius Julius Mento, a fallen Roman tribune leading a demonic legion. After accidentally arriving in Avalon, Mento sets his sights on establishing “Eternal Rome” in this mystical land.

“We are excited to share that King Arthur: Legion IX is coming to Xbox Series X|S,” states NeocoreGames in their press announcement. “Whether you’re a seasoned tactician or diving into Avalon for the first time, we think there’s something here for you in this stand-alone adventure.”

Console Performance Options

The game offers two visual modes on PS5 and Xbox Series X:

  • Quality Mode: 4K resolution (3840 x 2160)
  • Performance Mode: QHD resolution (2560 x 1440) with higher frame rate

Xbox Series S runs at QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution. PlayStation 5 owners get additional haptic feedback through the DualSense controller.

Tactical Combat with RPG Depth

Legion IX combines turn-based strategy with character development. Players manage a squad of 5-6 heroes, using cover, traps, flanking maneuvers, and an overwatch system to overcome challenges across fifteen handcrafted missions.

Between battles, players rebuild Nova Roma, managing limited resources to construct facilities that support their campaign. This strategic layer adds depth to the core combat experience.

Completely Standalone Experience

While set in the same universe as King Arthur: Knight’s Tale, Legion IX features an entirely new story with new heroes. Previous knowledge of the series isn’t required, making this an accessible entry point for newcomers to the tactical RPG genre.

The game supports multiple languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Polish, Chinese (Simplified), Russian, Portuguese (Brazilian), and Hungarian.

For players who enjoy strategic thinking and character-driven narratives, King Arthur: Legion IX offers a fresh spin on both Roman and Arthurian legends when it launches on consoles May 6, 2025.
