In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, Disney and Epic Games are set to debut the animated series “Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld” within Fortnite on May 2, 2025—two days before its Disney+ release on May 4.

This marks the first time Disney+ will premiere a show inside a video game, signaling a major shift in how entertainment content reaches audiences.

“For the first time, Disney+ is premiering a show inside a game, launching alongside our largest Star Wars collaboration with Fortnite to date,” said Sean Shoptaw, Executive Vice President of Disney Games & Digital Entertainment.

The early premiere is part of Fortnite’s “GALACTIC BATTLE” season, the first fully Star Wars-themed Battle Royale season in the game’s history. Players can watch the first two episodes on a special “Star Wars Watch Party Island” using the island code 2124-6713-8076.

More Than Just Watching

The Watch Party Island offers fans more than passive viewing. Players can battle waves of Stormtroopers using Star Wars weapons between episodes, blending the viewing and gaming experiences.

Adam Sussman, President of Epic Games, explained: “We are reimagining what’s possible with immersive storytelling in Fortnite with one of the world’s most beloved franchises.”

Gamers who link their Epic Games and MyDisney accounts will unlock a First Order Stormtrooper outfit in Fortnite, with more rewards promised in the future.

About the Series

“Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld” follows the formula of previous anthology series like “Tales of the Jedi” and “Tales of the Empire.” Created by Dave Filoni, the series explores the criminal side of the Star Wars universe through characters like assassin Asajj Ventress and bounty hunter Cad Bane.

The voice cast includes Nika Futterman, Corey Burton, Artt Butler, Lane Factor, AJ LoCascio, Clare Grant, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Eric Lopez.

Expanding Star Wars in Fortnite

The GALACTIC BATTLE season will add new Star Wars content weekly. Players can play as characters like Darth Jar Jar and Emperor Palpatine, and pilot vehicles including X-wings and TIE Fighters.

The season will conclude with a “Death Star Sabotage” live event, though details remain limited.

Building a New Universe

This collaboration builds on Disney’s $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games announced in February 2024. The companies aim to create an interconnected “games and entertainment universe” with Fortnite as its foundation.

“We’re building the next era of digital entertainment, where fans can play, watch, create and connect,” Shoptaw added.

While not the first Star Wars content in Fortnite—players could watch an exclusive clip from “The Rise of Skywalker” in 2019—this marks the most extensive integration to date.

For Star Wars fans who also play Fortnite, May 2 offers a unique opportunity to experience new content before the rest of the world
