Since launching on April 16, 2026, Nintendo’s social simulation game has become one of the platform’s biggest surprise hits on Switch, and this update follows the Version 1.0.2 patch released in May. Here is a breakdown of everything Version 1.0.3 changes.

⚠️ Ferris wheel timing freeze
Trying to visit a Mii character from the Mii List at the exact moment that Mii entered or exited the Ferris wheel could stop the game from progressing entirely. This is now fixed.
Progression blocker
💰 Money display glitch
On rare occasions, receiving money caused the player’s total balance to stop displaying correctly, which also blocked further progress in the game. Nintendo has corrected this.
Progression blocker
💥 Satisfaction-level crash
Repeatedly raising a Mii character’s satisfaction level could, on rare occasions, trigger an error that forced the game to close. The update resolves this crash.
Stability fix
💍 Relationship day counter
The number of days shown since two Miis became sweethearts or got married could sometimes display the wrong count. This counter now tracks correctly.
Gameplay fix
📷 Overzealous head-rub zoom
The in-game camera would zoom in too far when a player gave a Mii character a head rub. The zoom behavior during this interaction has been adjusted.
Gameplay fix
🎬 Mii News and photo studio visuals
Some objects occasionally failed to display correctly during Mii News segments or inside the photo studio. These rendering issues are now fixed.
Visual fix
👕 Outfit recognition bug
A Mii character could own every clothing item needed for a specific outfit, yet the game still would not recognize that the full outfit was complete. This recognition issue is corrected.
Gameplay fix
🗣️ Lingo speech cut-offs
Lingo taught to Mii characters was sometimes not spoken aloud in full. Nintendo notes this has been addressed along with other unspecified stability improvements.
Audio fix
📱 What changed for local play
Alongside the bug fixes, Version 1.0.3 places one new restriction on local play sharing. Mii characters and other creations can no longer be sent through local play if the island name or player name contains numbers or text that falls under Nintendo’s display restrictions. For islands and player names that already follow Nintendo’s naming guidelines, local play continues to work exactly as it did before. Players can check the official patch notes directly on Nintendo’s support page.

Pick an answer to see how Version 1.0.3 actually handles each scenario

Your island name has a restricted character in it. What happens after this update?

Not quite. Names flagged under Nintendo’s display restrictions are specifically affected by this update.

That is correct. Version 1.0.3 blocks local play sharing for any island or player name carrying numbers or text subject to display restrictions.

Not accurate. Nintendo confirms save data remains intact after installing the update; nothing about this patch removes save files.

The patch notes covered nine named fixes along with the new local play restriction, and Nintendo added that further unlisted adjustments were also made to improve overall gameplay stability beyond the items listed above. Version 1.0.3 is now live for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, following the Version 1.0.1 and Version 1.0.2 updates released earlier in 2026.
