R. Talsorian Games has put pre-orders live for Night City 2045, the upcoming 312-page city sourcebook for the Cyberpunk RED tabletop RPG. The digital PDF version launched on April 17, 2026 at $30, while physical copies — priced at $60 — are set to make their debut at Origins Game Fair on June 17. Described by R. Talsorian as a “monster sourcebook,” the book covers every corner of Night City as it stood in 2045 — 32 years before the events of Cyberpunk 2077 — during the aftermath of the Fourth Corporate War and the era known as the Time of the Red.

Every Part of the City, Mapped
Night City 2045 covers all 24 districts of the city — a major expansion over the 2020 Night City Sourcebook, which focused on the downtown district alone. Each district entry covers who runs it, who lives there, recent events, and what daily life looks like at street level. Unlike the more curated 2020 edition, this book treats the entire city as playable territory for tabletop campaigns.

The book details 44 individual gangs, 6 criminal organizations, and 23 private security providers — all operating within the city during the Time of the Red. Over 600 Places to Go, Fight, or Hide
More than 600 specific locations are documented inside the book — from corner stores and underground clinics to corporate fortresses and megabuildings. Each location is laid out on maps, so GMs know exactly where a given spot sits within the city grid. Whether players are fleeing a run gone bad or scouting a target, the book gives referees immediate, usable geography.
How Night City Actually Works
Beyond gangs and shootouts, Night City 2045 documents the infrastructure behind the city: geography, government, transportation by car, air, rail, and sea, utilities, media, citizenship laws, and SINs (System Identification Numbers). This section is about the skeleton underneath — the systems that keep the city moving, exploited, and barely functional all at once.
The Time of the Red — After the War
The book is set during the Time of the Red — the period following a nuclear blast in Night City during the Fourth Corporate War. The explosion stained the skies red for years, producing “blood rains” of crimson slime falling from above. Night City 2045 provides the complete history of the city up to this point. It sits 32 years before the events of Cyberpunk 2077 and the open-world RPGs that followed it, giving the setting its own distinct identity. The Cyberpunk RPG universe was originally created by Mike Pondsmith and first published by R. Talsorian Games in 1988.

What is Cyberpunk RED?
Cyberpunk RED is the current tabletop RPG edition published by R. Talsorian Games, set in the “Time of the Red” — the post-war period of 2045. It follows the Cyberpunk 2020 edition and serves as the direct prequel era to the video game Cyberpunk 2077.

Can I pick it up early at Origins?
Yes. Origins Game Fair runs June 17–21, 2026 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. Attendees who have pre-ordered can collect their physical copy in person. The convention is run by the Game Manufacturers Association (GAMA).
Who is this book aimed at?
Night City 2045 is primarily aimed at Game Masters (called Referees in Cyberpunk RED). The district breakdowns, faction entries, and 99 character stat blocks are designed to give GMs all the material they need to run campaigns without extensive extra prep.
How does it compare to the 2020 sourcebook?
The 2020 Night City Sourcebook covered only the downtown district of Night City. Night City 2045 covers all 24 districts of the entire city, set 25 years later in the lore, with a full map and over 600 locations versus the narrower earlier scope.
Is a map product also coming?
Yes. R. Talsorian has confirmed a separate poster-sized map of Night City circa 2045 is planned for release around the same time as the physical book. It will be a standalone product, separate from the sourcebook.
