Patch Update · Crimson Desert

Pearl Abyss has been updating Crimson Desert at a rate few studios manage post-launch. Since the game arrived on March 19, 2026, major patches have landed almost every weekend — fixing bugs, adding character moves, tightening controls, and gradually pulling Steam reviews from “Mixed” to “Very Positive.” Now, the studio has confirmed what’s coming in the next patch, expected in late April 2026. It’s a bigger download than usual, and the reason for that is deliberate.

The upcoming patch is part of an April–June roadmap Pearl Abyss published on April 10 — a public commitment covering everything from difficulty settings to boss rematches. For context on other action-adventure titles releasing this year, see coverage of the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced reveal and the recently confirmed Gothic Classic Trilogy console release timeline.

Difficulty Settings
Late April
Easy, normal, and hard modes are coming. Pearl Abyss confirmed the feature so players of all skill levels can adjust combat to a pace that suits them — one of the most requested additions since launch.
🎒
Inventory Category Tabs
Late April
Dedicated tabs for materials, gear, food, clothing, and collectibles. Storage and inventory will be separated into categories, removing the need to scroll through everything in one list.
🎮
K&M + Controller Preset
Late April
A combined keyboard, mouse, and controller preset will give PC players more flexibility over how they control the game — an ask from the community since the March 19 launch.
🏔️
Distant Scenery Quality
Late April
Mountains, forests, and distant landscapes across Pywel will render at higher fidelity. Pearl Abyss confirmed this is why the upcoming patch will be a larger download than previous ones.
New Character Moves (v1.03.00)
Live
New abilities added for Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka. Kliff’s Focused Aerial Roll requires Focus Lv. 3, Flight Lv. 2, and Aerial Roll to be unlocked first. Damiane and Oongka also received new skills in this patch.
Map Cave & Chest Markers
Live
The world map now shows which caves and treasure chests have already been cleared, using separate icons to distinguish visited from unvisited locations, and restored from unrestored Abyss points.
Shield & Weapon Display Toggle
Live
Players can hide shields and back-mounted weapons on Kliff, preventing equipment from clashing visually during cutscene moments.
🔁
Boss Rematches
Apr–Jun
Any defeated boss can be challenged again on demand. Pearl Abyss confirmed rewards scale to your current level, so returning to early bosses at a higher character level still produces relevant loot.
🏰
Re-blockading
Apr–Jun
Enemy remnants will retake liberated zones across Pywel over time, creating repeatable combat in areas already cleared. The feature addresses community complaints about late-game world emptiness.
🐴
New Mounts & Mount Armor
Apr–Jun
Additional animal mounts and mount armor pieces are on the roadmap, along with more clothing and cosmetic options confirmed by Pearl Abyss in the April 10 dev update.

Straight from Pearl Abyss
Hey Greymanes, we’re currently preparing our next update which will include several features mentioned in last week’s Dev Update notice, including the addition of a keyboard/mouse and controller preset, difficulty settings, category tabs for your inventory, and more. We want to take our time with testing and polishing things before we roll the patch out, which we expect to do sometime next week. Also, due to the distant scenery quality improvements we are adding in, this patch size will be larger than our previous ones.
A difficulty settings feature will be added so that everyone — from new Greymanes to the more advanced — can enjoy the adventure at the level that suits them best. You’ll be able to choose from easy, normal, and hard difficulty.
Pick Your Difficulty
Tap a mode — Pearl Abyss has confirmed all three
Easy Mode
Aimed at players who want to experience Crimson Desert’s story and open world with reduced combat pressure. Certain boss encounters that players found particularly punishing at launch — including some mid-to-late game fights — are expected to be more approachable at this setting. Pearl Abyss described the feature as being for players who want “to enjoy the adventure at the level that suits them best.”
Accessible Story-Focused Confirmed by Pearl Abyss
Normal Mode
The default setting — consistent with the experience available since launch. Boss encounters and open-world combat remain at the standard level Pearl Abyss has been tuning through ongoing patches. Players who have been playing through the existing build will find this setting closest to their current experience.
Balanced Default Experience Confirmed by Pearl Abyss
Hard Mode
Added in direct response to players who felt the game had become too easy following balance patches. Before the April 10 roadmap, parts of the community had already called for a harder option through community feedback. Pearl Abyss confirmed Hard as one of the three available settings. When Boss Rematches arrive as part of the same roadmap window, the combination of both features will be available together.
Challenging Community-Requested Confirmed by Pearl Abyss
Still on the Roadmap
Confirmed for May–June 2026, not yet released
🔁
Boss Rematches
Fight any defeated boss again. Rewards confirmed to scale with your current level.
🏰
Re-blockading
Enemies retake liberated locations. Cleared zones in Pywel will not remain empty.
👗
More Clothing
Additional cosmetic clothing options are coming for your Greymane.
🐴
New Mounts & Armor
More animal mounts and dedicated mount armor pieces to collect.

The upcoming late April patch was covered here based on Pearl Abyss’s official Dev Update post and subsequent studio statement, both confirming difficulty settings, inventory category tabs, a K&M plus controller preset, and distant scenery improvements as the patch’s core contents. The broader April–June roadmap — also sourced from the same official notice — covers boss rematches, re-blockading, new mounts, and additional clothing.
