A new wave of rumors suggests The Elder Scrolls 6 might release in 2027, according to claims from leaker eXtas1s. This timeline, while unconfirmed by Bethesda, has sparked fresh discussion about the long-awaited sequel to Skyrim.

The 2027 target mentioned in eXtas1s’ recent video offers no internal evidence to back up the claim. Multiple news outlets reporting on this rumor have emphasized its unconfirmed status, noting the leaker’s mixed track record of accurate and inaccurate predictions.

Bethesda has shared very little official information about The Elder Scrolls 6 since releasing a brief teaser trailer in 2018 – over seven years ago. During the recent livestream reveal for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, Todd Howard acknowledged the team is “hard at work” on the game but provided no details about progress or release timing.

The company’s communication approach follows a pattern of announcing major releases close to launch. Fallout 4 was revealed just months before its release, and Oblivion Remastered was announced right before it became available. This strategy makes early date leaks less reliable.

The Elder Scrolls 6 entered development after Starfield’s 2023 release. Documents from the FTC vs. Microsoft case referenced a “2026 or later” timeline, giving some credibility to the 2027 window based on typical development cycles for games of this size.

If the 2027 target proves accurate, this would push Fallout 5 into the early 2030s, as Bethesda Game Studios typically focuses on one major project at a time. This extended timeline has raised concerns among Fallout fans, who have already waited 10 years since Fallout 4’s release.

Industry insider Jez Corden has claimed that internal trailers for The Elder Scrolls 6 exist and the game is “playable” within Bethesda, though like the release date rumors, none of this information has been officially confirmed.

The gaming community’s frustration over the lack of updates continues to grow. Many fans have expressed that even a single screenshot would help ease concerns about the game’s progress.

With Bethesda’s history of keeping major projects under wraps until they’re nearly ready for release, official confirmation of The Elder Scrolls 6’s release date may not come until much closer to launch. Until then, rumors and speculation will likely continue to fill the information vacuum.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to other content in the Bethesda universe, including ongoing Fallout TV content, Starfield DLC, and the recently released Oblivion Remastered.
