Nintendo closed its latest Direct presentation with a major announcement: Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is heading to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. This marks the 18th entry in the long-running tactical RPG series and the first designed specifically for Nintendo’s next console.
The reveal trailer showcased the game’s turn-based combat and introduced “The Heroic Games,” an arena-centered tournament where competitors battle for a chance to have their wish granted by a figure called the “Divine Sovereign.”
Most notably, the trailer ended with a surprise appearance by Sothis, a key character from 2019’s Fire Emblem: Three Houses. An older-looking Sothis addresses the viewer directly, asking, “The years were long, weren’t they? Have you forgotten me so soon?” This strongly suggests Fortune’s Weave connects to the world of Three Houses.
Beyond the Sothis reveal, the trailer shows several other connections to Three Houses, including the return of Crests, Hero’s Relics (with Dietrich wielding one called Answerer), and Demonic Beasts. These elements were central to Three Houses’ story and world.
