Xbox players face tough choices this week as major releases arrive between August 25 and 29. Two blockbuster games launch on the same day, August 26, marking a historic moment where PlayStation’s hit game Helldivers 2 comes to Xbox while Xbox’s flagship series Gears of War debuts on PlayStation for the first time.

Gears of War: Reloaded hits Xbox Game Pass on day one, delivering the complete original experience with all bonus content included at no extra cost. The remaster brings 4K visuals, runs at 120 frames per second in multiplayer, and supports cross-play between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC players. Players who bought Gears of War: Ultimate Edition digitally before May 2025 get this upgrade free.

Helldivers 2 sold over 12 million copies and became Sony’s fastest-selling game. The cooperative shooter requires teamwork as friendly fire damages your squad members. PlayStation is publishing the Xbox version, priced at £34.99 or $39.99, with a Super Citizen Edition available for more money.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater arrives August 28 on Xbox Series X|S, built in Unreal Engine 5 with the original voice acting preserved. Players can choose between Legacy Style controls that match the 2004 original or New Style with modern over-the-shoulder camera. Early access begins August 26 for Deluxe Edition buyers.

The remake includes platform-specific bonus content. PlayStation gets Snake vs Monkey featuring characters from Ape Escape, while Xbox receives Snake vs Bomberman. The online Fox Hunt multiplayer mode launches separately in late 2025.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance launches August 29, bringing back the classic ninja character Joe Musashi. Players seek revenge after finding their village destroyed and clan turned to stone.
