Nintendo’s next gaming system is coming in 2025, bringing new games and features that could change how we play. Let’s look at what games are confirmed and what you might be playing when the Switch 2 arrives.

The Games We Know About

Right now, Nintendo has shown just one major game: a new Mario Kart. The brief footage appeared in Nintendo’s reveal trailer, giving players a first look at what’s coming.

Seven other games have been officially announced. Yooka-Replaylee brings back a fan-favorite platformer with better graphics. New games like Littlelands and Bestiario are joining the lineup, showing that smaller game creators are already working on Switch 2 projects.

According to the announcement, “The Switch 2 retains the hybrid form factor of its predecessor but with a larger screen size.” This means you can still play both at home and on the go, just like the original Switch.

Big Games on the Horizon

Some exciting news for RPG fans – Square Enix is reportedly bringing Final Fantasy 7 Remake to Switch 2 in 2025. Ubisoft plans to release Assassin’s Creed Mirage when the system launches.

Microsoft might bring Halo games to a Nintendo system for the first time. “Most, if not all Xbox games, will launch on Switch 2 if the console can run them well enough,” says Windows Central’s Jez Corden.

Better Gaming Experience

The Switch 2’s improved hardware capabilities appear to be attracting developers who previously faced technical limitations with the original Switch. This suggests players can expect better performance in both new releases and potentially enhanced versions of existing games.

Looking Ahead

Nintendo’s approach with the Switch 2 combines familiar features with improved technology. The original Switch sold over 100 million units worldwide, showing strong market presence.
