Zombie survival game Dying Light: The Beast will now launch on September 18, 2025, one day earlier than planned. Developer Techland announced the change to celebrate surpassing 1 million preorders for the standalone sequel.

“We pushed ourselves to make the impossible possible, and that’s why we’re releasing the game a little earlier,” said Dying Light franchise director Tymon Smektała. “I can’t wait to see players’ reactions when they finally step into the world of The Beast.”

The game will unlock simultaneously worldwide across all platforms, with specific regional times including 9 AM PT for Los Angeles, 12 PM ET for New York, 5 PM BST for London, and 2 AM AEST on September 19 for Sydney.

Players who own the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2: Stay Human will receive The Beast at no additional cost, with the game automatically appearing in their game libraries at launch. This honors Techland’s original promise when The Beast was planned as DLC before evolving into a full standalone title.

The Beast continues the story of Kyle Crane, protagonist of the original Dying Light, who returns after 13 years of captivity and experimentation by a villain known as “the Baron.” The game moves from urban settings to the zombie-infested Castor Woods in the Swiss Alps, featuring multiple biomes to explore.

All preorders include the Hero of Harran bundle with special weapon and vehicle skins. Ultimate Edition owners will also receive this bonus automatically without needing to place a separate preorder.

The game features dual playstyles allowing players to switch between survivor skills and beast-like powers, with first-person parkour, off-road driving, and 4-player cooperative play with shared progression. Preview impressions suggest a roughly 20-hour main campaign, with completionists potentially spending 40-60 hours in the game.

Dying Light: The Beast will launch on PC, PlayStation 5 (including PS5 Pro), and Xbox Series X|S on September 18. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are planned for release by the end of 2025. The download size is approximately 39 GB, with preloading available starting September 16.
