Warner Bros. Games, TT Games, DC, and the LEGO Group have announced LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, an ambitious open-world action-adventure game set to launch in 2026. Players will be able to enjoy the game on next-generation consoles including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, as well as on computers through both Steam and Epic Games Store platforms.

The upcoming title spans Batman’s 86-year history across comics, TV, films, and games, allowing players to experience the Caped Crusader’s journey from his early days training with the League of Shadows to becoming Gotham’s protector.

Players will navigate an open-world Gotham City using the Batmobile, Batcycles, or by grappling and gliding. The fighting mechanics take cues from the Arkham series with its flowing attack combinations, defensive moves, hidden approaches, and finishing strikes. Players looking for extra difficulty can choose between the new “Caped Crusader” or tougher “Dark Knight” settings – something not seen before in previous LEGO titles.

“Whether he’s the wrathful Dark Knight, the brilliant detective, or the unlikely father of the ‘Batfam,’ Batman has constantly evolved,” said Jim Lee, President and Chief Creative Officer at DC. “This game brings together nearly every facet of his legacy.”

The adventure features several well-known Batman companions including Commissioner Gordon, various members of the Bat-family like Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl, plus other allies such as Catwoman and Talia al Ghul. Players will face off against villains including The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul, and Bane – with comedian Matt Berry voicing the latter, a detail highlighted in multiple announcements.

Local two-player cooperative play is confirmed, allowing friends to team up as Batman and allies. Players can also personalize their Batcave, displaying vehicles, trophies, and collectible Batsuits. Fans who sign up for a WB Games account will unlock a special Golden Age Batsuit inspired by Batman’s 1939 debut in Detective Comics #27.

The reveal trailer showcases references to various Batman eras, including Tim Burton’s films, Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, and Matt Reeves’ The Batman, all infused with TT Games’ trademark LEGO humor.

This marks TT Games’ first major release since LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga in 2022. The studio has sold over 200 million LEGO game units worldwide, setting high expectations for this new Batman adventure.

“Our remarkable team at TT Games is working hard to deliver a fresh take on the beloved Batman universe,” said JB Perrette, President and CEO of Streaming & Games at Warner Bros. Discovery. “Offering new and improved features beyond previous LEGO games that will excite both longtime fans and gamers of all levels.”
