Battlefield 6 will hit shelves on October 10, 2025, exclusively for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game brings players back to the modern combat setting that made Battlefield 3 and 4 fan favorites.
Players can get their first taste through an open beta across two weekends – August 9-10 and August 14-17. Early access starts August 7 for Battlefield Labs participants or those who scored access through a now-concluded Twitch drops event. Pre-downloads begin August 4.
EA’s decision to make Battlefield 6 current-gen only marks a strategic shift. This move allows for better graphics, more detailed destruction, and larger maps, but cuts off the PS4 and Xbox One player base that competitor Call of Duty still supports.

The new “Kinesthetic Combat System” enhances movement with features like leaning around corners and combat rolls. A standout addition is “Drag and Revive,” allowing players to pull injured teammates to safety before reviving them – adding tactical depth to battlefield medics.
The destruction system has been refined for more tactical gameplay. Buildings don’t just collapse entirely; instead, facades crumble and floors can be breached, creating new strategic opportunities during fights.
Set in 2027, the campaign unfolds in a world where major European countries have left NATO, creating a power vacuum that a private military corporation called Pax Armata exploits. Maps span global locations including Egypt, Gibraltar, and New York.
