PlayStation Plus is adding a massive lineup of games this August, giving subscribers plenty of reasons to stay indoors. The latest batch includes heavyweight titles spanning multiple genres, with Marvel’s Spider-Man and Mortal Kombat 1 leading the pack.
Starting August 19, PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers will gain access to nine new titles in the Game Catalog. Marvel’s Spider-Man headlines the collection, with PS5 players receiving the Remastered version while PS4 users get the Game of the Year Edition. The game puts players in control of an experienced Peter Parker balancing his personal life with his responsibility to protect New York City.
Fighting game fans can enjoy Mortal Kombat 1, which introduces revamped combat systems including bone-crunching Fatal Blows and new Fatalities. The lineup also includes Sword of the Sea, launching directly into the service on its release day. This atmospheric surfing adventure comes from the creative minds behind Journey and ABZÛ, featuring “Hoversword” movement inspired by skateboarding and snowboarding.
Role-playing game enthusiasts have two major additions to look forward to: Unicorn Overlord, a tactical fantasy RPG that can take over 50 hours to complete, and Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, which continues Ryza’s alchemical adventures. The game includes two free DLC packs available on the PlayStation Store, including the Atelier Series Legacy BGM Pack with over 1,000 tracks from older titles.
Other additions include Earth Defense Force 6, a cooperative third-person shooter where players battle alien threats in a world on the brink of collapse; Indika, a story-driven game about a nun’s journey of self-discovery; Harold Halibut, a handmade narrative game set on a city-sized spaceship; and Coral Island, a farming and life simulation.
