Path of Exile 2’s latest major update, The Third Edict, released on August 29, 2025, has expanded the game with a massive new area featuring 12 challenging boss encounters. The update adds Act Four to the game, taking players to the Ngamakanui Archipelago, a collection of eight distinct islands each with unique environments and dangers.
Act Four introduces over 100 new monster types and allows players to explore the islands in any order they choose, breaking from the linear progression of earlier acts. Game Director Mark Roberts and Audio/Narrative Director Kane Bennett highlighted three standout boss encounters in the update.
The Great White One is an optional boss that appears as a shark fin circling in water before surprisingly revealing itself as a land-shark. Once it bites a player, it enters a frenzied state, making its attacks more accurate and deadly.

Diamora, the Song of Death, lures players with beautiful singing in the Singing Caverns beneath Whakapanu Island. What initially appears as a beautiful siren transforms into a mutant fish creature when approached. Players must avoid looking directly at her during her singing phases or risk being turned to stone, while also managing reflective water walls that can cause petrification.
Yama the White, encountered in the sacred Karui location known as The Eye of Hinekora, combines high agility with chaos magic. Its most dangerous ability is Foresight, which darkens the arena and shows players multiple versions of themselves dying. Players must identify and follow the one safe path to survive.
Beyond these new boss encounters, The Third Edict update has removed the Cruel difficulty previously required to reach endgame, replaced by Act Four and three new “Interlude Acts.” The update also introduced a new league called Rise of the Abyssal, improved sprint mechanics, and added asynchronous trading.
