A new fighting game featuring Marvel characters is coming to PS5 and PC next year. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will let players create teams of four Marvel heroes and villains in battles designed to be both easy to learn and deep enough for serious competition.

The game was revealed during PlayStation’s State of Play event on June 4, 2025, as a collaboration between PlayStation Studios, Marvel Games, and Arc System Works – the studio behind popular fighting games like Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Unlike most team-based fighting games that use two or three characters per team, Marvel Tokon introduces a 4v4 format. This design choice aims to create more spectacular battles with multiple characters on screen simultaneously.

“At its core, we felt that the appeal of team VS fighting games is the intensity of battles with multiple characters on screen at once,” explained Game Director Kazuto Sekine. “With these two ideas in mind, we concluded that creating a 4v4 team VS system would be the best way to not only create those over-the-top moments, but to further evolve the tag fighting genre.”

Despite featuring four-character teams, Sekine emphasized that players only need to master one character to be effective. The game will offer both traditional fighting game controls and simplified inputs to accommodate players of all skill levels.
