NetEase Games rolled out its July 3 patch for Marvel Rivals, delivering a handful of bug fixes and new cosmetic items as players count down to the major Season 3 update. This smaller patch serves as a bridge to “The Abyss Awakens” season launching on July 11.

The update addresses three key bugs that have been frustrating players. Thor receives a consistency improvement that fixes ability interruptions during high latency conditions. Previously, his “Thorforce” ability would behave unpredictably when network conditions weren’t optimal.

Another fix resolves an issue affecting Magneto and Psylocke’s illusions. Before the patch, defeating these illusions incorrectly triggered effects meant only for actual hero eliminations. For instance, Loki’s “Laufeyson Reborn” ability would activate against these illusions, giving unintended advantages. The patch ensures these effects only trigger when defeating real heroes.

The update also fixes a platform navigation issue where players returning from a Career page via the Leaderboard would be redirected incorrectly.

Two new character skins headline the cosmetic additions: Captain America’s “Captain Klyntar” symbiote-inspired costume and Spider-Man’s white “Future Foundation” suit. Both bundles became available in the in-game shop on July 4 at 02:00:00 UTC, shortly after the patch deployment.

Like most weekly updates, the July 3 patch required only a small download and launched without server downtime, allowing players to jump back into matches immediately after updating.

This patch follows the more substantial June 26 update, which made notable changes to the surrender system. That earlier patch reduced the number of votes needed to surrender, making it easier for teams to concede matches. For a six-player team, only five votes are now needed instead of requiring unanimous agreement. The change aims to address player frustration with “smurfs” (high-ranked players using lower-ranked accounts) and “throwers” (players intentionally sabotaging matches).
