Xbox players can finally add Grand Theft Auto 6 to their wishlists, a feature PlayStation 5 users have enjoyed for nearly two months. Rockstar Games activated the Xbox Store listing on Wednesday, bringing Xbox Series X|S owners one step closer to the highly anticipated game.
The store page features artwork from the second trailer, screenshots, both GTA 6 trailers, and an official game description. While the purchase button remains grayed out with “Not Currently Available” displayed, the wishlist function works perfectly.
What makes this update interesting is the small 328.76 MB file that Xbox users can download via the Xbox app. This placeholder file reserves space in your library and will automatically update when pre-loading begins closer to launch. When opened, it briefly displays the game’s cover art before closing with an error message asking, “Do you own this game or app?”
Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, had previously stated that Xbox wishlisting would be available “soon” after it launched on PlayStation. Though it took seven weeks to arrive, Xbox players can now track the game’s progress and receive notifications about future updates.
The official worldwide release date for GTA 6 remains May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. This follows a delay from the initial Fall 2025 window, which Rockstar announced was necessary to “realize their creative vision” for the game.

But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”
While PC gamers will have to wait longer, Rockstar typically releases PC versions 6-12 months after console launches, following the pattern established with GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Pricing for the game remains unconfirmed, though industry speculation suggests it could range from the standard $70 for AAA titles to potentially $80 or even $100, given its long development time and costs.
For many fans, the ability to wishlist GTA 6 makes the game feel more tangible after years of waiting, bringing the gaming community one step closer to what may become the biggest game release in history.
