Fortnite’s newest game mode, Blitz Royale, has quickly become the game’s most popular attraction since its launch in June 2025, prompting Epic Games to consider making it a permanent feature. The company recently asked players what changes they’d like to see if the mode were to become permanent.

“We’ve seen a lot of ‘make Blitz permanent’, but what should we change?” Epic Games posted on their official Fortnite X account on July 3, attaching a poll with four options for potential improvements.

Blitz Royale offers a drastically different experience from traditional Fortnite gameplay. The mode features 32 players instead of 100, uses a smaller map, and delivers matches that typically last just five minutes compared to the usual 20-minute battles. The fast-paced format has been especially popular with mobile players, as it was specifically designed for quick, on-the-go gaming sessions.

What makes Blitz Royale stand out are the special powers granted through “Medallions” and “Boons” that give players abilities like invisibility while sprinting, infinite ammo, and faster movement. These unique elements add a roguelike feel to the traditional battle royale format.

Originally scheduled to end on July 15, Epic Games has already extended Blitz Royale’s availability until August 12, according to industry reports. The mode features weekly rotating themes, with past weeks featuring “Avatar: The Last Airbender” elements and a “Bad Bosses” theme. The upcoming week beginning July 8 will introduce “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” content.

The poll currently shows “new points of interest” leading the vote count. This makes sense considering the current Blitz Royale map only has five locations. Other popular suggestions from players include adding a trios mode and removing the large on-screen notifications that appear when collecting medallions and boons.

Player reception has been overwhelmingly positive across gaming communities. Many describe it as “the most fun shooter in years” and appreciate how the no-build mechanic makes the game more accessible to newcomers who might struggle with Fortnite’s building mechanics.

While Epic hasn’t officially confirmed Blitz Royale will become permanent, the company’s engagement with player feedback suggests they’re strongly considering it. The mode’s record-breaking player counts, often surpassing Fortnite’s core Battle Royale and Zero Build modes, demonstrate its significant impact on the game’s ecosystem.

For those who haven’t tried Blitz Royale yet, the mode will be available until at least August 12, giving players plenty of time to experience Fortnite’s fast-paced, action-packed alternative to traditional battle royale gameplay.
