Game makers at CD Projekt Red just surprised everyone. They’re putting out another update for Cyberpunk 2077 on June 26, even though they said they were done making big changes to the game.

This comes as a shock because the company told players earlier that they were moving on to work on new games. But it seems like they had one more update ready to go.

The game has come a long way since it first came out in 2020. Back then, it was full of problems and many players were angry. Now things are different. The big add-on called Phantom Liberty sold more than 10 million copies. That’s a lot of money coming in, which probably helped convince the bosses to keep working on the main game.

This new update won’t be huge like the previous ones. Think of it more like putting the final touches on a painting. The game works well now, so they’re just making small improvements to make it even better.

One thing many players want fixed is the subway system in the game. Right now, you can ride the trains, but it feels boring. You just sit there and watch the city go by. Players want to walk around the train stations, talk to other characters, and actually do things while using the subway.

People who modify games on computers have already figured out how to make the subway more fun. This shows it can be done. Players imagine walking through different stations that look different based on which part of the city they’re in. Rich areas would have clean, fancy stations. Poor areas would be dirty and covered in graffiti.

Gamers have made long lists of things they want in this update. Many want to change how their character looks, especially adding robot parts like metal arms or glowing eyes. This would help players fit in better with the game’s robot-human world.

People also want more things to do with the characters they can date in the game. Right now, after you start dating someone, there isn’t much new content. Players want more activities and conversations with these characters.

Another big request is having more missions to replay. Once you finish the game, there isn’t much new stuff to do. Adding repeatable missions or letting players restart certain quests would give them reasons to keep playing.

The company might be getting help from another studio called Virtuos. Someone posted about working on Cyberpunk content on a job website, but they quickly deleted it. This could mean CD Projekt Red is letting other companies help with small updates while their main team works on bigger projects.

Speaking of bigger projects, they’re already working on Cyberpunk 2. It’s still in the very early stages at their offices in America. The person who created the original Cyberpunk board game said the new game might have a different city that looks like Chicago but much worse.

Console players really want the ability to add modifications to their games, just like computer players can. Games like Skyrim let console players download small changes and additions. Cyberpunk players hope they’ll get this feature too.

The game also came out on the new Nintendo Switch 2 recently. This helps the company reach more players and test out improvements that they can use in future games.

The community manager told players to be patient while the team finishes the update. He basically said to trust the developers and wait for the official details about what’s actually in the update.

This whole situation shows how the gaming industry has changed. When a game launches with problems, companies now often spend years fixing it instead of just moving on. Games like No Man’s Sky did the same thing and eventually became much better.
