Call of Duty Black Ops 6 and Warzone’s mid-season update arrives September 4, bringing major changes to Verdansk Stadium, new weapons, and free rewards for players. The update launches at 9 AM PT across all platforms with content spanning multiplayer, Warzone, and Zombies modes.
Verdansk Stadium Changed Forever
The most significant change affects Warzone’s Verdansk map, where Stadium has been permanently transformed. The roof is now permanently blown off the structure, with the interior accessible to all squads in future deployments to Verdansk. This permanent alteration dramatically changes how players will approach this popular combat zone.
New Warzone Mode Introduces Elimination Mechanic
A new limited-time mode called Deadline arrives with the update. This mode features unlimited respawns, but the lowest-scoring squads will be eliminated with each circle collapse. Players must constantly earn points through eliminations, contracts, and Buy Station purchases to avoid being cut from the match, as scores reset with each new circle. The mode also introduces AI “Hostile Soldiers” that increase pressure on remaining teams.
New Weapons and Combat Tools
Season 5 Reloaded introduces several new weapons and tools:
- Gravemark .357 Revolver: A single-action revolver with high power and considerable range, limited by lower ammo count and segmented reload. Players must make their shots count as each round must be manually reloaded.
- Combat Bow Scorestreak: Available for only 500 score points, this weapon provides five explosive-tipped arrows that create flame patches upon impact, making it useful for area control.
- PPSh-41 Helical Magazine: A new attachment that provides massive ammo capacity but introduces an overheat mechanic requiring players to take breaks from firing.
Multiplayer Content
For multiplayer fans, the update brings the new Jackpot map set in Casino Luttazzi, featuring multiple combat zones including the main floor, stage, and terrace areas. New and returning modes include Cranked Demolition, where players must maintain a timer by scoring eliminations, and the returning Ransack and Blueprint Gunfight modes.

Zombies Updates
Zombies mode receives Reckoning Directed Mode, which adds guidance for the Main Quest with a 15-round cap. Players will face new enemies including Uber Klaus and use the new Gorgofex Wonder Weapon. Team Cranked also returns as a limited-time mode, requiring players to chain kills to avoid exploding when their timer runs out.
Free Rewards and Events
In celebration of the Black Ops 7 reveal, players who log in to Black Ops 6 or Warzone through September 16 will receive 20 free Battle Pass Tier Skips. Additionally, those who download the update will get a pack of Double XP tokens including five 1-hour tokens each for Player XP, Weapon XP, and Battle Pass XP.
Two events, Nuketown Block Party and Operation: Hell Ride, offer ways to earn the Combat Bow, Gravemark .357, and PPSh-41 Helical Magazine through gameplay challenges.
Esports and Community Events
Fans can also look forward to two major tournaments: The C.O.D.E. Bowl VI on September 30, where military service members compete alongside pro players, and the World Series of Warzone Global Final on October 1, featuring 150 top players competing for a $1 million prize pool. Both events will stream on official Call of Duty channels.
Perhaps most notably for long-time players, today’s update has reportedly reduced Call of Duty’s overall file size by more than 100GB, addressing one of the community’s biggest complaints. While the initial download may be larger, Activision explains this is due to content reorganization in preparation for the Black Ops 7 Beta launching October 2.
