Battlefield 6 Beta Bug Silently Ruins Aim Until August 18

A troublesome bug in the Battlefield 6 beta is secretly sabotaging players’ accuracy, making many wonder why their shots suddenly seem to miss. The issue, first noticed by popular streamer Shroud and later investigated by YouTuber TheXclusiveAce, involves the game’s bloom mechanic becoming stuck after sliding.

Bloom, also called weapon spread or reticle bloom, is a deliberate gameplay feature in many shooters that adds randomness to aiming. Instead of bullets always hitting exactly where players aim, shots spread within a cone around the crosshair. In Battlefield 6, this spread becomes worse during movement, especially while sliding, to balance the advantage of mobility.

The newly discovered issue occurs when a sliding animation gets interrupted – whether by bumping into terrain, jumping, or any other interruption. When this happens, the game mistakenly keeps applying the higher “sliding bloom” state to the player, significantly reducing their accuracy even when standing still or crouching.

What makes this issue particularly frustrating is there’s no visual indicator that anything is wrong. Players affected by the bug might blame their own skills or controller settings rather than recognizing they’re trapped in an incorrect bloom state.

The good news is there’s a simple temporary solution. Players can reset their aim accuracy by performing one complete, uninterrupted slide. This resets the bloom calculations back to normal, allowing for proper aiming again.

While Battlefield 6 doesn’t include a traditional “slide cancel” mechanic like Call of Duty, slides are easily interrupted by uneven ground or when players jump to avoid enemy fire – making this bug occur frequently during normal gameplay.

The timing is unfortunate for players, as the bug appears unlikely to be fixed before the beta concludes in the early hours of Monday, August 18. However, it should presumably be addressed before the game’s official launch, reportedly set for October.

Understanding this bug helps explain why some players might experience inconsistent aiming during the beta. By completing an uninterrupted slide whenever accuracy feels off, players can work around the issue until a permanent fix arrives.
