Blizzard Entertainment confirmed World of Warcraft: Midnight launches globally March 2, 2026 at 3:00 PM PST. The second chapter of the Worldsoul Saga brings players back to Quel’Thalas as Xal’atath threatens the Sunwell with Void corruption. Players who pre-purchase any edition gain Housing Early Access starting December 2, 2025 through content update 11.2.7 “The Warning.”

The expansion raises the level cap to 90 across four zones: revitalized Eversong Woods combining the original zone with Ghostlands, expanded Zul’Aman featuring Amani troll culture, underground Harandar where Haranir allied race originates, and hostile Voidstorm controlled by Xal’atath’s forces. Players explore these areas while defending Silvermoon City, now rebuilt as the expansion hub accessible to both factions.

Content at launch includes three raids totaling nine bosses, eight new dungeons, and eleven Delves featuring legendary blood elf rogue Valeera Sanguinar as companion. The new Prey system offers opt-in hunting challenges across three difficulty tiers, while player housing allows customization with thousands of decor items earned through gameplay. Epic Edition purchasers receive three-day early access beginning February 27, 2026, plus beta access and exclusive cosmetics.

Haranir becomes the newest allied race, available to both Horde and Alliance factions. Ancient hunters feature bioluminescent customization and play nine classes: Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock, Monk, and Druid. Players unlock Haranir through Midnight’s main campaign, similar to other major expansions requiring story progression for allied race access.

Demon Hunters receive third specialization: Devourer, a mid-range DPS spec utilizing Void energy instead of Fel. This addition allows Void Elves to join Illidari ranks for first time. Quality-of-life updates include Transmog 2.0 with saved outfits and context-based automatic equipment changes, Cooldown Manager for tracking auras and defensives, and improved Combat Assistant with rotation support.

Major New Features

Midnight introduces systems expanding both solo and group gameplay options.

🏠 Player Housing System
Champions of Azeroth claim personal homes after 20 years. Robust system features thousands of decor items earned through quests, dungeons, raids, and crafting. Players join neighborhoods (public or guild-based), select houses, and customize using 3D placement tools with grid or freeform modes. Housing Chest UI stores collections. Early access begins December 2, 2025 for pre-purchasers.
🎯 Prey Hunting System
Opt-in system led by Astalor Bloodsworn from Murder Row in Silvermoon City. Players track powerful targets across Midnight zones through three difficulties: Normal, Hard, and Nightmare. Successfully defeating prey earns valuable rewards with escalating challenge levels adding outdoor world gameplay depth.
🌑 New Demon Hunter Specialization: Devourer
Mid-range DPS specialization abandons Fel energies, embracing Void power source instead. Void Elves now join Illidari as Demon Hunters, marking first availability of this race-class combination. Devourer spec features unique ranged abilities extracted from enemies.
🌿 New Allied Race: Haranir
Ancient hunters from hidden Harandar display glowing bioluminescent features. Available for Horde and Alliance, playing Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock, Monk, or Druid. First encountered in The War Within through Orweyna investigating surface disturbances affecting underground realm.
✨ Transmog 2.0
Save outfits, swap freely, and configure automatic changes based on context. Battle gear for raiding automatically switches to casual outfits when entering player housing. Quality-of-life overhaul brings unprecedented character appearance customization management.
⚔️ New PvP Content
Slayer’s Rise: Voidstorm portion serves dual purpose as world PvP hotspot and 40v40 epic battleground inspired by Alterac Valley and Isle of Conquest. Training Grounds: Comp Stomp expands permanently to Silvershard Mines and Battle for Gilneas, allowing practice against AI opponents.
🏛️ Renewed Silvermoon City
Rebuilt from foundation as expansion hub. Scourge invasion damage mostly healed. One-third remains Horde-exclusive territory while two-thirds accommodate both factions. New areas include Sanctum of Light and Memorial Garden reflecting restored elven capital.

Eight new dungeons launch with Midnight: Windrunner Spire, Magister’s Terrace, Murder Row, Den of Nalorakk, Maisara Caverns, Blinding Vale, Nexus-Point Xenas, and Voidscar Arena. These instances support both leveling progression and Mythic+ endgame content. Eleven Delves include ten standard versions plus Torment’s Rise Nemesis Delve, featuring Valeera Sanguinar as NPC companion.

Updated leveling experience for new and returning players streamlines progression through Dragonflight content, preparing characters for Midnight launch. Lorewalking feature allows players to experience key moments from previous expansions through curated storylines. Catch-up gear and guided tours with Jaina or Thrall assist returning players. The expansion supports PC platform exclusively with no console versions planned.
