Riftbound: Unleashed — Set 3 Complete Guide

Riftbound: Unleashed, the third set in Riot Games’ physical trading card game, is arriving on store shelves this spring. Developed by Riot Games and published in partnership with UVS Games, Unleashed adds over 220 cards, 30-plus alternate art versions, and three brand-new mechanics to a game that launched its English edition on October 31, 2025. The set drops in China on April 10, 2026 and in English on May 8, 2026.

The theme running through Unleashed is the jungle — patience, concealment, and the payoff of a well-timed strike. New Champion Legends like Kha’Zix, Diana, Lillia, and Ivern join returning face Master Yi with a new card, and the set also introduces XP as a first-of-its-kind resource in Riftbound. For collectors, a brand-new rarity tier called Ultimate Rare debuts here, with Baron Nashor as the only card of that tier in this set — appearing in fewer than 0.1% of packs.

Below is a full breakdown of every mechanic, Legend, token, product, and date you need to know before Unleashed hits your local game store. For the latest news on other titles, see our coverage of the Tekken 8 Season 3 patch and Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2.

New mechanics
Three new rules, one jungle theme
Every Riftbound set adds a new strategic layer. Unleashed introduces three interlocking mechanics that feed off each other — earn XP through Hunt, level up your cards, and catch opponents off guard with Ambush. Tap each tab below to see exactly how they work.
New Resource

XP — Experience Points

XP is a new resource you accumulate and spend for unique advantages. Each XP you earn also equals one Level — and cards with the Level keyword gain new abilities as your XP total grows.

Kha’Zix, Voidreaver reads: “When you win a combat, gain 1 XP.” Spend 1 XP to Buff a unit, or spend 2 XP to move an exhausted friendly unit from a battlefield back to its base. The XP Tracker token, included in Unleashed products, helps you count your total during a match.

Kha’Zix, Voidreaver
Champion Legend XP
“When you win a combat, gain 1 XP.
→ Spend 1 XP: Buff a unit.
→ Spend 2 XP: Move an exhausted friendly unit from a battlefield to its base.”
XP Engine

Hunt — Conquer to Earn

Hunt is the primary way you fill your XP pool. When a unit with Hunt conquers or holds a battlefield, you gain the XP value printed on that card.

Mosstompter carries “Hunt 2 — When I conquer or hold, gain 2 XP.” It also has a Level 3 ability, so it gets stronger as your XP grows — a self-feeding loop that rewards objective control.

Mosstompter
Hunt 2 Level 3
“When I conquer or hold, gain 2 XP.” — Gains a Level 3 ability once the XP threshold is reached.
Reaction Speed

Ambush — Strike from the Shadows

Ambush lets you play a unit card as a Reaction to a battlefield where you already have units. You can drop a unit into an active fight mid-combat — on offense or defense — that your opponent never saw coming.

Inferna lands at a contested battlefield with Assault 2 already active. The mechanic is taken directly from how junglers operate in League of Legends: lurk, read the moment, then commit at full force.

Inferna
Ambush Assault 2
Can be played as a Reaction to a battlefield where you have units — arriving mid-combat already at full power.

Tokens
Every new token in Unleashed
Unleashed adds seven token types — five new, two returning. Most are created automatically when you play specific cards. Hover any card to read what it does.
👁️
Baron Pit
A new token battlefield that enters play automatically when Baron Nashor is played.
🐦
Bird
A new unit token equipped with the Deflect keyword. Other cards in the set can create Birds.
🌿
Brush
Created by Ivern, Green Father — he can replace a battlefield he conquers with this Brush token.
⬆️
Buff
A returning token. Gives a unit +1 Might when applied. An established staple in Riftbound.
🪙
Gold
Returns from Spiritforged. Gives you 1 Power when you exhaust and destroy it.
🪞
Reflection
A new token that becomes a copy of another unit already in play — with Temporary applied.
Sprite
Temporary. Killed at the start of your next Beginning phase — short-lived but tactical.
📊
XP Tracker
New to Unleashed. Tracks your total XP during the match so you always know your current level.
Champion Legends
Who’s joining the roster?
Unleashed adds 12 new Legend cards — the base cards your entire deck is built around. Below are the confirmed Champion Legends. Master Yi becomes the first character in Riftbound history to receive a second Legend card. Vi, Rengar, and Poppy are expected but not yet officially confirmed by Riot Games as of the current preview window.
Kha’Zix
Voidreaver
XP-focused Legend. Gains 1 XP on combat wins. Spends XP to Buff units or move exhausted units to base.
Lillia
Bashful Bloom
Green/Blue (Calm/Mind). New to Riftbound. Signature spell: Lilting Lullaby.
Diana
Scorn of the Moon
Blue/Purple (Mind/Chaos). New to Riftbound.
Ivern
Green Father
Green/Yellow (Calm/Order). Can replace battlefields he conquers with Brush tokens.
LeBlanc
Deceiver
Blue/Yellow (Mind/Order). Legend ability: When you conquer or hold, discard 1 and exhaust to play a ready Reflection unit token there. The separate Champion Unit “LeBlanc, Everywhere At Once” nullifies Temporary for units sharing her battlefield.
Master Yi
Unstoppable
First character with two Riftbound Legends. 12 Energy, 12 Might. Costs less per XP level threshold. Untargetable at Level 16.
Poppy
Keeper of the Hammer
Gains 1 XP whenever she holds a battlefield. Spend 3 XP + exhaust to draw a card.
Pyke
Bloodharbor Ripper
Red/Purple (Fury/Chaos). Confirmed via pre-preview Chinese social media leaks.

Type
For 2 Energy and zero Power, Shadow’s Call gives a unit the Temporary keyword — if it doesn’t already have it — then draws two cards. The unit is killed at the start of your next Beginning phase, giving you a full turn to use it, set up a death trigger, or sacrifice it with Baited Hook into something stronger from your main deck.

The card slots naturally into token-heavy decks — Viktor, Azir, and Lux — where flooding battlefields means losing one small unit for two cards is a net positive. It also fits inside the new LeBlanc, Everywhere At Once Champion unit’s battlefield, which nullifies the Temporary penalty entirely for any unit sharing her board, effectively turning Shadow’s Call into a clean 2-for-2 draw for 2 Energy.

Shadow’s Call was exclusively revealed by MMORPG.com ahead of the Unleashed preview season. IGN holds a separate exclusive Unleashed card reveal, scheduled during the preview window. The two are different cards. Learn more about recent gaming news in our coverage of ARC Raiders Patch 1.20.0.
