🎂 Pokémon Turns 30 — The Biggest Pokémon Presents Is Here

February 27, 2026 marks 30 years since Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green first launched in Japan. The presentation ran for approximately 25 minutes.

The lead-up to the event had already been busy. The first-ever LEGO Pokémon sets were confirmed for a February 27 launch. Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen were confirmed for Nintendo Switch. Pokémon Presents February 2026 — 30th Anniversary
🎮 What Was on the Agenda?

Pokémon Presents traditionally covers new games, live-service updates, TCG news, and animated productions. Here is what was confirmed or widely anticipated ahead of the February 27, 2026 presentation. Tap each item to expand.

🎮Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen — Nintendo Switch
Confirmed ahead of the presentation. Pokémon FireRed Version and LeafGreen Version — the 2004 Game Boy Advance remakes of the original Kanto games — launched digitally on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, 2026, immediately following the conclusion of Pokémon Presents. Both titles are priced at $19.99 / £16.99 each on the Nintendo eShop. They are digital-only releases outside Japan (a code-in-box physical edition exists in Japan only). The games will not support online play but do support local wireless for battle and trade via Pokémon Wireless Club mode. Game size is 40 MB each. Pokémon HOME support is expected to be added after launch.
🏆Pokémon Champions
Pokémon Champions is an official Pokémon battle game coming to Nintendo Switch systems and mobile devices in 2026, with cross-platform support. First announced at Pokémon Presents in February 2025, the game features a simplified training system, Pokémon HOME connectivity, and various online battle modes. It was confirmed in August 2025 that Pokémon Champions will serve as the official VGC (Video Game Championships) platform at the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco, replacing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The game is “free-to-start” with a paid digital version also available on Nintendo Switch. Mega Evolution returns in Ranked Battles, and Mega Dragonite was confirmed as a playable Pokémon.
🌟Next Generation Pokémon Games
With 2026 marking Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, the presentation was widely expected to include a reveal or update on the next mainline Pokémon games. The previous mainline entry, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, launched in November 2022. A new generation of games on Nintendo Switch 2 had been widely anticipated. No confirmed title or official details were available at press time — only pre-show speculation.
📱Live-Service Game Updates
Pokémon Presents presentations traditionally include updates on active live-service titles. The lineup heading into Pokémon Day 2026 included Pokémon GO, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket (whose Paldean Wonders mini-set expansion launched on February 25, 2026, just days before Pokémon Day), Pokémon UNITE, and Pokémon Masters EX.
🧱First-Ever LEGO Pokémon Sets Launch
The LEGO Group and The Pokémon Company International launched their first-ever official LEGO Pokémon sets on February 27, 2026 — Pokémon Day. The inaugural lineup consists of three adult-targeted sets: 72151 Eevee (587 pieces), 72152 Pikachu and Poké Ball (2,050 pieces), and 72153 Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise (6,838 pieces). The sets were available via LEGO.com/Pokemon, LEGO Stores, and Pokémon Center from launch day.
🎬Pokémon Animated Series & Other Projects

Alongside the presentation, February 27, 2026 also served as the launch date for the first-ever LEGO Pokémon sets — three brick-built sets featuring Eevee, Pikachu, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise — available through LEGO.com and Pokémon Center.
