3 Modes in the Beta

Every mode has a purpose. Here’s what each one is actually for.

📖
Tutorial
Covers movements, button inputs, Active Tagging, and Assist Breakers. Start here if you’re new to tag fighters or the game.
🎯
Practice Mode
Free-form training to work on specific combos, match-ups, or character mechanics before going into competitive play.
🏆
Ranked Mode
Head-to-head competitive matches where you earn League Points. The top 20 players at beta close get their names in the official game credits as “Beta Beasts.”
How the Game Actually Works

Key mechanics that make Invincible VS different from a standard 1v1 fighter. Tap each to expand.

🔀Active Tagging — Switch Mid-Combo
Active Tagging lets you swap to a teammate mid-combo without breaking your offensive string. Landing this correctly keeps pressure on and extends damage. It’s the central mechanic of the 3v3 format.
🛑Assist Breaker — Escape a Combo
When you’re on the receiving end of an Active Tag combo, an Assist Breaker lets you call in a teammate to interrupt it and get out. The cost is two Boost meter bars — so use it when the situation actually calls for it.
Boost Meter — 3 Bars Per Fighter
Every fighter has three Boost bars under their health. These power up attacks, enhance movement options, and fund Assist Breakers. Managing this resource well is key — spending it recklessly leaves you with fewer options in a pinch.
🔢Combo Meter — Keeps Strings From Going Infinite
The combo meter fills as you extend a string. When full, it forces the defending player out of the combo. To keep going, you need to do something that lowers the meter — like tagging in a teammate — rather than just mashing buttons.
⏱️Sudden Death — When Time Runs Out
If a match reaches the time limit, Sudden Death kicks in. Each team’s remaining fighters are pooled into a single combatant whose health drains continuously. Last one standing wins. No draws.
🎮Supers and Ultimates
Each fighter has two Super moves and one Ultimate. There’s also an auto-combo triggered by repeatedly pressing the light attack button — useful for players getting started with a character or learning matchups in Practice Mode.
What You Get for Playing

There are two separate rewards tied to the beta — one for everyone, one for the top 20.

🧔
Omni-Man Skin — Free for All Beta Players
Every player who takes part in the Open Beta receives an exclusive Omni-Man skin based on his appearance in Episode 406 of the Invincible animated series on Prime Video. This version trades his signature mustache for a full beard — a look pulled directly from the show’s Season 4 storyline. The skin, referred to as the Coalition of Planets skin, includes four colour variants. You don’t need to place highly or complete anything — just play.
🏅
Beta Beasts — Top 20 in Credits
The top 20 players on the Ranked Mode leaderboard at the close of the beta will have their names listed in the official Invincible VS game credits as “Beta Beasts” when the game ships on April 30. It’s competitive — you need to place in the top 20 globally across PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-order details are at InvincibleVS.com.
