Sony’s upcoming action-adventure game Ghost of Yotei is set to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. This standalone sequel to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima shifts the setting to northern Japan, where players will control Atsu, a lone mercenary seeking revenge against the “Yotei Six” who murdered her family.
Set in 1603 Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido) around Mount Yotei, the game takes place roughly 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. Unlike its predecessor, which featured Jin Sakai battling Mongol invaders, this new chapter focuses on Atsu’s personal vendetta. The story begins 16 years after Atsu’s family was killed, with players able to hunt down the six outlaws in any order they choose.
The game expands on combat options with several weapon types including dual katanas, odachi, and kusarigama (chain-sickle). Sucker Punch Productions has emphasized reducing repetitive gameplay elements from the original title, introducing a more flexible mission structure through a new Clue Card system and bounty hunting mechanics.
