Epic Games launches its biggest Fortnite change of 2025 today, turning the popular game into a virtual crime scene. Like moving from a quiet neighborhood to a busy city, players will see their familiar battle ground transform into “Crime City,” complete with banks to rob and trains to hijack.
The new dual-wielding feature adds a fresh combat element to Fortnite – players can now shoot two guns at once, specifically an SMG and shotgun together, bringing new tactical options to the game. The update notes confirm this feature will change how players approach combat situations.

The change starts February 21 at 2 AM ET, giving the game a four-hour maintenance period for the update installation. When players return around 6 AM ET, they’ll find their game transformed into a crime-themed environment.
The update brings back Midas from Chapter 2, now appearing in an outlaw variant. Joining the character roster is Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat, marking the first time this fighting game franchise has appeared in Fortnite, mixing the iconic fighter’s abilities with Fortnite’s world.
