THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games officially unveiled Darksiders 4 during the THQ Nordic Showcase 2025. The announcement ends a six-year wait since the last mainline entry in the action-adventure series, with the new game picking up directly from the original Darksiders’ dramatic cliffhanger ending.
For the first time in the franchise’s history, all four Horsemen of the Apocalypse will be playable in a single game. Players can choose between War with his Chaoseater sword, Death with his dual scythes, Fury with her Scourge whip, and Strife with his pistols Mercy and Redemption. Each character offers unique weapons and combat styles to master.
The announcement trailer revisits the iconic ending from the 2010 original, where War declares “No. Not alone” as his fellow Horsemen appear in the distance. This direct continuation addresses what many fans consider the best cliffhanger of the PlayStation 3 era, which has remained unresolved for 15 years.
“Darksiders 4 is a third-person action adventure game featuring combat, traversal and puzzle solving in a lore-rich post-apocalyptic world,” according to the official website. The game promises “fast-paced, visceral action blending melee, fluid traversal, and supernatural abilities” across “apocalyptic landscapes teeming with secrets, enemies, and mythic bosses.”
