Call of Duty Black Ops 6 and Warzone’s Season 2 arrives January 28. Players will need to clear up 109GB of storage space for all the new content and changes coming to the game.

A major focus of the update is improving the game‘s security against cheating. The game‘s security system, called Ricochet, is getting stronger tools to catch people using unfair advantages. This includes better ways to spot automated aiming and new methods to track repeat offenders across different accounts.

Console players now have more control over who they play against. They can choose to play with everyone, stick to console-only matches, or only play against people on their same system. This change comes after many players raised concerns about running into cheaters, particularly from the PC player base.

The game‘s competitive mode, Ranked Play, went offline on January 28 at midnight Pacific time. Players will find their ranks adjusted. Those in Bronze or Silver get to keep their current rank. Gold and Platinum players will move back to the first tier of their rank. Anyone ranked Diamond or higher will start at Diamond I.

Weapons are getting significant updates too. All guns will have reduced bullet penetration through walls and objects. Fast-loading magazine attachments are being improved, with most weapons seeing a 10% improvement, while pistols get a 5% boost. Shotguns are getting better range and faster firing speeds after players pull up their weapons from running.

Players will find three new standard maps to play on. “Bounty” puts players in a crime boss’s penthouse, “Dealership” takes place in a luxury car shop that’s really a front for illegal trades, and “Lifeline” happens on a burning yacht. Zombie mode players get a new map called “The Tomb,” set in underground tunnels filled with dark magic and undead enemies.

The new content comes in two payment options. The standard Battle Pass costs 1,100 COD Points, while a premium version called BlackCell costs 2,400 COD Points. Both give access to new weapons like the PPSh-41 submachine gun and the Cypher 091 assault rifle.

Community feedback has highlighted ongoing concerns about network performance and anti-cheat systems, with notable players in the Call of Duty scene voicing their frustration about persistent issues.

The success of these changes will depend on how well they work in real matches. While new maps and weapons add fresh content, the gaming community is most interested in seeing if the anti-cheat improvements and ranked mode changes make matches fairer and more enjoyable.
