The newest update for Call of Duty: Mobile launches tomorrow, bringing players a mix of jungle themes and futuristic elements in Season 5: Primal Reckoning. Starting May 28, 2025, at 5 PM PT (May 29, 5:30 AM IST), mobile gamers will get access to fresh content including a classic map, new weapon, and a major gaming crossover.
Zoo Map Returns from Black Ops
The fan-favorite “Zoo” map from Call of Duty: Black Ops makes its first appearance on mobile. This medium-sized battlefield takes place in an abandoned zoo with overgrown animal exhibits, old gift shops, and a rusting monorail track cutting through the facility.
“Zoo offers a creative layout incorporating animal pens, gift shops, and other attractions in an overgrown, dilapidated setting,” noted Activision in their announcement. The map’s design supports close to medium-range combat, making it ideal for fast-paced gunfights.
New VMP SMG Joins the Arsenal
Players can unlock the VMP submachine gun through the Battle Pass, with versions available in both free and premium tiers. The weapon features a high fire rate, large magazine capacity, and manageable recoil, making it effective in close-quarters combat.
The premium Battle Pass includes a special blueprint called “VMP – Stun Slash,” alongside other weapon designs like the Koshka – Snow Leopard and ASM10 – Birds of Prey.
NieR: Automata Crossover Brings Unique Rewards
Perhaps the biggest highlight of Season 5 is the limited-time collaboration with action RPG NieR: Automata. Players will take command of the YoRHa Unit battling against Machine Lifeforms in special event missions.
By completing objectives, players earn action points to progress through branching paths. Successful completion rewards include the Kui Ji – YoRHa No. 9 Type S operator skin and four different NieR-themed melee weapons.
The crossover extends to the in-game store with themed draws featuring operators like Kestrel – YoRHa No. 2 Type B and weapon blueprints such as the PP19 Bizon – Morph Symphony.

Community Concerns Remain
According to player feedback across social media platforms, there are ongoing issues with hackers and monetization practices. Many players have expressed frustration that despite new seasonal content, problems with cheating and aggressive monetization continue to affect gameplay experience.
The Battle Pass Vault is returning with Season 8’s “Train to Nowhere” content, giving players another chance to acquire previously missed items like the Misty – Undercover Agent operator skin and M4 – Prince of Time weapon blueprint.
